Merch clans

Depends what you mean by good or bad..
Personally I've made about 100m from merch clans in the past.. so for me personally it's good. However for most of RS it has a negative effect, as well as having a negative effect on those of us who dump the items late and end up losing a ton.
So I think your question needs to be more specific =P As from a lot of angles it's completely different!

Merchant clans ruin my gameplay experience. They often target a lot of the items that I regularly use for skills such as Slayer, Farming, Summoning, and monster-hunting.
I should not have to wait a half hour for a stinking Games necklace to buy for max. I also shouldn't have to pay 140k+ for one measly Yew seed that is normally (and only worth, I might add) 80-90k. They contain the profit to a select few, and then basically screw the rest of us over by exploiting the price stability of an item.

When you are buying 10000 rune(or pure) essence for skilling you are increasing the price.
Also i think that:
Jagex should make merch clans because the encorauge to the player to get the item for training a skill instead of buying them.
Merch is also great way to make money.
Today i buy 7700 raw trout for 32 and i'm gonna sell them for 36 and will make about 30800 and I only used only 250k.
My opinion is that merch clans are good but must of them are scams and sometimes they are wrong.
They only merch because they work hard and get low money and Merch is easy and you don´t need skill's and only take a few minutes.

I have no problem with solo merch. That's skill and knowing the market. Clan merches however cause everyone to make the price go up leaving everyone else who isn't in the merch to not be able to get the item. That's bad. Also, many do lose money on these. The leaders will sell before they tell everyone else to. Pretty much a scam in a way. Not good at all.
Edit: One thing to add is once they sell the item, it crashes lowering the price and someone who may have gotten the item from a drop or made themselves will lose money on it as well/not be able to sell it. Happens with a lot of common items.
